070123.Bath, The Tragic Treasury-13

This is from a while ago, obviously. But for the series, everything’s been leading up to this point: this is the best song of the bunch.

This photo was taken a long time ago. Shipwrecked by the Gothic Archies:

I can’t think of a single thing I’d rather do
then be cast away on an island with you.
No, I can’t think of anything more heavenly
than to have you shipwrecked on a tropical island with me.
Shipwrecked with you
Shipwrecked with you
I can’t think of a single thing I’d rather do
than be cast away on an island with you

Far from distractions and matters of state,
we can quit smoking and quickly lose weight,
sleeping till noon and then staying up late,
at latitude zero and longitude eight

I am a gentleman: should you get hurt,
I’ll make a tourniquet out of my shirt.
You needn’t do much, just sit there and flirt,
and if it looks drizzly, I’ll build us a yurt

I can’t think of a single thing I’d rather do,
and that’s why I had to get rid of the crew.
So I lopped off their heads and dropped them in the sea
just to have you shipwrecked on a tropical island with me
Shipwrecked with you
Shipwrecked with you
I can’t think of a single thing I’d rather do
and that’s why I decapitated the crew.

How could I know there’s no island nearby?
If I don’t eat something soon, I’ll just die
I wouldn’t eat you, oh, never, not I
so let’s catch a shark and I’ll make us a pie!

What shall we use for bait? Lend me your hand.
I’ll sew it back on when we get to land
but if the shark takes it, then that would be grand,
(because we won’t starve to death; you understand.)

I can’t think of a single thing I wouldn’t do
to end up shipwrecked on an island with you.
No, there’s nobody I wouldn’t kill – nobody –
just to have you shipwrecked on a tropical island with me
Shipwrecked with you
Shipwrecked with you
I can’t think of a single thing I’d rather do
to end up shipwrecked on an island with you…again.

Hey, I won’t be checking this very often for another day or two but will get back to everyone after that. (Below, Hugh Laughlin’s “Desert Island” Sunset Lake installation (2006) in upstate New York. The two trespassers were not part of the installation)

  1. Cute boat…cute island (Gilligan?)…cute song…sounds familiar! =)

  2. Wow, they have a Sunset Lake in Bath, too?

No, I’m sorry, cute song, though. Any song that uses the word “yurt” in the lyrics is OK by me.

And upon closer inspection, your Actual Bath Boat only does have two passengers. You’re good with details.

  3. superbe photo, avec une preference pour la deuxieme. tres bon ce bateau avec palmier (enfin je pense que c’est un palmier) incorpore

superb photograph, with a preference for the second. very good this boat with palm tree (finally I think that it is a palm tree) incorporates

  4. aah, you singing to me?

  5. JC, I had options with the ship thing but this is what I chose. The couple seemed to be distant in their seating….

  6. Distant? They’re back-to-back. I figure the guys standing in front and back are People Who Make the Boat Go. And the thing in the back seat is just a jacket or something, innit?

  7. …unless I misinterpreted your elipses, and there was some implication I’m missing.

  8. Hmmmmmmmmm…if I may give my two cents’ worth here? I think they were getting ready to do something dodgy and saw the camera and pretended like they were NOT! 😉 Sorry…that’s what it looked like to MEEEEEEEEE!
